A Couch With A View (pdf)
I find the stories simple enough for young children to understand on their own but challenging enough to bring questions to the table. ... My daughter loves dragging the Moonman toy around the house with her throughout the day and she dances when I push the star on his stomach and music begins to play. It's too cute. The Nana Star doll is a wonderful companion for young girls. She's posable and soft so she can become a sleeping companion for your child or even the next guest at her tea parties.

Nana Star is a wonderful book for any little girl in your life. The Nana Star character embodies so many positive traits and sends a wonderful message to young girls. Nana Star is one of those books that you can read again and again; and I believe that little girls will see how generous and selfless Nana Star is and hopefully model their own behavior after her. I also think that the book will have different meanings depending on the age of the reader, so the book has the potential to "grow" with the girl.

Riding with no Hands 3/06/09
The story is simple enough that my 4-year -old could summarize it after the first time we read it together, but powerful at the same time, encouraging compassion and generosity in such a beautiful manner. The Nana Star series of children's books has won various awards, and I can see why. This is such a well-rounded product line! I love the seamless integration of book, plush, CD, and companion website.

The message is powerful yet easy enough for little readers to understand. The stories instill old-fashioned values in our children that unfortunately get forgotten in today's toys & books. Nana Star is generous, caring, brave, and selfless.

Nana Star and the Moonman is a great fit for our Because It's Christmas Kids & Charity Giveaway. .[Nana Star & Friends] are wonderful products that promote so many positive things. Nana Star is a beautifully illustrated book for kids ages 3+. Madelyn, 2 years old, loves to read this book at bedtime and must have her Nana Star doll with her. .The [sing-along storytime] CD is great for long car rides. It doesn't seem to get old no matter how many times it loops during a trip. The poseable Nana Star doll is intricately crafted and comes with her own baby star to take care of. Nana Star is not too tiny and not too big. Just right for snuggling with and taking in the car.

Bookworm(Mom)'s Diary 11/17/08
Well-conceived and well built, these books and companion plushies are too adorable for words. I spent the weekend reading out the books to my not-yet-2- year-old toddler. He's too young for the powerful message contained within the pages, but he did enjoy the thought that the doll in his hand was the same one in the book. Once that concept was grasped, he couldn't have enough of it! .As parents, we're always on the lookout for children's books and toys with high play and imagination value, and the Nana Star series seems to embody this sentiment.

Mums the Wurd 10/13/08
Ever since the Moonman came into our lives, my little girl has been hooked. She is now obsessed with the moon and has to look for it every night. We listen to the Moonman story and song on my iPod every morning. [She] can sing the accompanying song word for word without missing a beat. She loves her Moonman Lovey and every night we tuck her into bed, we must give Moonman a kiss goodnight. (Of course, Nana Star is tucked in right beside both of them.) If that doesn't show how easy these characters are to love, then I don't know what does.

Kid Buy Product 10/16/08
We have so many books at our house, and while some are just for fun, some are for teaching life lessons. Nana Star falls in the later category. It's a warm story about having compassion and friendship, and about doing the right thing and helping others. All of this in a simple to understand story that is beautifully illustrated as well. The Nana Star website also makes it very simple to extend your experience.

The book brings many positives to nighttime, including the message that your little one is being watched over by the Moonman, even if they cannot see him. Mom of 2 Dancers
My daughters were so excited. I thought [Nana Star] was going to be just for my 7-year-old, but my 10-year -old snatched up the Moonman! She keeps him on her bed with all her Webkinz. [M]y newly turned 7-year-old just adores the Nana Star doll. She has been taking her everywhere with her. She is so soft and cuddly, she easily goes everywhere and is easy to sleep next to. The attention to detail for this doll is unbelievable. I believe these are the only books that I got [my 10-year-old] to read completely actually. That is saying something because my oldest hates reading! [M]y girls were really excited trying to find [the mistakes in the books]. I highly recommend these books, would make a wonderful Christmas present!

Read to Me, Dad 9/8/08
An important part of raising our daughter is making sure that we select media that will reinforce good values that we are trying to impart to her. [Nana Star and Nana Star and the Moonman are] two wonderful books that fit that bill. The story fits into a wider story that is filled with lessons about values like manners, healthy habits, creativity and courage. I've read about other bloggers and their children who like to listen to the CD and follow along in the book. I'm sure that when [my daughter] gets older she will do that, too. However, for now she likes looking at the beautiful illustrations. The thing that really hooked me is that Nana Star is much more than a book with a nice message. Nana Star is a family collaboration.

This book first of all blew me away. [T]he illustrations were so beautifulI actually couldn't wait to read the book. We sat down to read the book and the kids were actually silent. They sat still and listened intently. The story behind the book is the real winner here. This really is a beautiful book with a beautiful story, and I think all children will enjoy [it].

JoJo's Place 9/6/08
[A] wonderful book series... [Nana Star] really captured the attention of my youngest daughter. She holds on tight to her little Nana Star posable doll while listening to me read. She loves the book so much that it has become part of our nighttime routine, reading it at least 3 or 4 times before finally going to sleep. And the sweet little Nana Star doll has to sleep with her now as well! What's really great about all the Nana Star books is that they all come with a cd that tells the story, so that your children can follow along. Kelsie loves listening to this in the car while following along in her book. I really love books that keep the child's imagination going even after the book is finished. This is one of those books. We can't wait to get next in the series!

[W]onderful new product[s] for children My son enjoyed listening to this book on CD as well as being read the story by my husband or myself. The themes of friendship and imagination apply to both genders! [A]n excellent gift for any boy or girl and a happy addition to anyone's library.

Walk With Me 9/6/08
[M]y daughter just loved her new [Nana Star] doll and book. [Nana Star is] a sweet story of helping someone and being a comfort to them in their time of need. And it keeps you wanting more because the story continues on in another book. The illustration is beautifully simple and colorful. My daughter loves to point out all the things she sees in the pictures as I read the book. I love that fact that it comes in an audio CD that I can play as we read along with the book or play it in the car.

So I opened the Nana Star doll for him and he's been carrying her around the house with him all day. I think he really enjoys interacting with the character in the book in a tangible way. I went from skeptic to fan in one afternoon. Now I want to read the next book. I really can't say enough good things about the Nana Star book and the accompanying CD and posable doll. They don't scream "wow" at first glance, but after Jake's reaction to it, I'm certainly left with a "WOW."

[My daughter] was just thrilled when we got Nana Star to review. She loved the soft Nana Star doll, accompanying CD, and the wonderful book, full of vibrant illustrations that told the story of Nana Star. [These are] wonderful products you can share with your own little ones. [The series] will give your children plenty of inspiration and help them to develop creativity—not to mention teaching them positive behaviors such as respect, sharing, [and] manners. ...I look forward to reading future installments in the adventures of Nana Star, and meeting her new friends, too. [My daughter] plans on taking her Nana Star book to school soon, so the teacher will be able to share the story of Nana Star with her classmates. Cheeks to Cheeks 9/5/08
A delightful book of a little girl's adventure. It is a book of kindness, courage, love and friendship. If you have a little girl, you couldn't go wrong reading this story to her. The Nana Star doll[makes] storytime vivid and fun. As a parent I love the fact that the book came with a special CD that not only narrates the story, but also [plays the] beautiful Nana Star theme song. At times when I'm tired and don't feel like reading the book out loud, I let the CD do the job. It's a great tool for a dead-tired parent like me.

Brain Foggles 9/4/08
I had the pleasure of sharing the Nana Star book, CD and doll with a lovely girl from my church. [She] was enthralled with the story and the colorful, vintage illustrations. I talked to [her] about the [Nana Star] Foundation by showing her the photos of the authors and explaining that they wanted to teach about sharing. I asked her if would be willing to share the book with the other children in our church after she takes it home for a while. She was willing to do that with the book only! She said that it would be "nice to share" the book with her friends. Nana Star is already helping to teach one little girl about the value of sharing. The positive messages will continue to reach new children as the book is passed along.

The story teaches many valuable lessons, including love and kindness, and is reminiscent of a classic fairy tale. The CD has the words of the story read in a gentle voice so that children can either follow along with the book or use it alone. It would be a wonderful story to listen to at bedtime. [The Nana Star doll] is so cute. Little girls will love the small bendable body that's just right for snuggling. Overall, I would recommend this product to anyone with children ages 3-7. It would make a perfect birthday gift without all the worry of getting something inappropriate.

[F]ull of darling surprises, adorable and wonderfully illustrated books with CDs, adorable Nana Star doll [and] Moonman! I'm not too sure if the creators intended to create an allegory or not, but I couldn't help but feel a correlation between Moonman and our Heavenly Father. The song that the Moonman plays is so cute and catchy! My hubby says it sounds like a little Michael Bublé in training!

An Island Review 8/07/08
These colorful and easy-to-read books were a big hit with our family because not only could Girlie Girl read through them herself, but also because we found the Nana Star book series to focus on character building, compassion, and generosity. All very important traits I want my children to possess. [T]he whole Nana Star experience [is] fun and educational and definitely something my daughters will treasure for a long time.

Life as Lou 8/07/08
These are very clever and cute picture books! The book's heroine, Nana Star, finds a lost baby star and promises to help him find his way back home. Their journey together is very sweet, and the book's simple illustrations are fun to look at. The story is beautifully told and expresses a safety and security that all children could benefit from. You really get the feeling that there is always someone looking over you from these books, and yet they are not religious in the least. It gives comfort, hope and friendship fun new faces without being didactic or trite. That is growing hard to find in today's world where morality and hope seem banned to the religious sector! It is great to find a book with a positive message that is completely non-secular.
In addition to the books, Nana Star and Moonman are lovable dolls. When we opened our box with the books and the toys, I really expected Maggie to love Nana Star since she was a pretty little dolly, and she does, but not nearly with the same affection she has for Moonman! In fact, my kids have been fighting over him for about two weeks now! He plays a little song and is incredibly huggable and sweet. His bright face lights up as the song plays and Maggie has spent many nights snuggled up with him.

Your little ones will love to cuddle up with posable, lovable Nana Star and friends. Our favorite besides Nana Star is Moonman. The Bean loves kissing and pushing his little star on his chest to see his sweet face light up the night. Overall I really love this series of books. My boys really loved listening to the CD at story time and enjoy acting out the story with the plushies. This month I am going to introduce you to some fabulous dolls for your kids. The first doll that our daughter Nevaeh loves is the Nana Star doll. This sweet doll has a well written book that will keep your children interested throughout the book. (No, I won't tell you the story you need to get your own) The first week that we had Nana Star, I think I read the book 20 times over and over again. Nevaeh never got tired of the story.she would just read along with me. She even takes Nana Star for walks around the yard. It is so cute!

Caleb is a bit afraid of the dark. He really doesn't like to be left alone downstairs, either. I enjoyed giving him the Moonman from the new Nana Star series! I really like the Moonman because he is super soft and cuddly. His face lights up (like the moon) and he plays a great little tune. It is a very appealing tune, too.

Mums the Wurd 7/13/08
I don't really remember life before Nana Star. Seriously. This book and all of the magic surrounding it has consumed our family. Even my husband! Actually, he doesn't have a choice in the matter. We are true Nana Star fans (or "Twinkles", if you will) and it didn't take long for that to happen. As soon as my toddler got her little hands on the Nana Star plush doll and attentively listened to me read her the story of a little girl in a blue princess dress, she was hooked. Ever since that day, the accompanying book and narrated story/song cd that came with the doll has been played continuously at naptime and bedtime. I even had to go so far as to loop the cd in her player, because she would keep getting out of bed to replay it. This is of the most enjoyable children's stories I've read yet.

Magpie Musings 7/10/08
All in all, it's a pretty charming package. The doll is sweet and perfect for my four-year-old. The booksgently impart reasonable lessons. The illustrations are lovely, and have a slightly vintage feel about them.
The kid liked it. What more could you want?

Did You See That? 7/9/08
The book and doll we received to review were the original Nana Star book and doll. My daughter was enchanted by how the doll was holding the star and tree branch just as we read it in the book. My son listened intently as we read the story, wondering how the little star was going to get home. We were all enchanted by the beautiful illustrations.
And not only are the books outstanding - the authors also decided that publishing the books was not enough – they wanted to make a difference with their Nana Star legacy. So they created the Nana Star Foundation. The foundation is dedicated to raising funds for terminally ill children and heightening awareness of the problems facing children attending inner-city schools. The small company also donates hundreds of books to such causes as Toys for Tots and First Book.

Everybody loves grandma's stories. This is the premise for the Nana Star series founded by Elizabeth Sills and Elena Patrice who wanted to share their grandmother's simple but poignant stories with the world. Old-fashioned values of friendship and love are desperately needed in today's fast moving world where everyone seems to be in a hurry to get somewhere. These simple stories with values such as kindness, generosity and compassion not only encourage, but also provide for wholesome entertainment. Through the simple, sweet stories, [Nana Star] is all set to charm your little ones.

Big Blueberry Eyes 7/7/08
Kayla was excited when the box arrived as I told her it was an early birthday present; she couldn't wait to open it. Nice sister that she is, she immediately gave Lucas the Moonman and he seemed to take a liking to it right away! He likes looking at the big, smiley, yellow face! Kayla carried Nana Star around with her all afternoon, and she shares her with Lucas, too. Perfect for little hands to grasp on to! One of the unique aspects to these books that I really like is that each book has a purposefully misspelled word. We're watching for the next book in the series so we can find out who Nana Star befriends next, and how she gets the little star back where he belongs!

Zen of Motherhood 7/7/08
Have you heard of Nana Star? She is just the type of heroine that you would wish for your young daughter. Kind, brave, and adventerous, Nana Star is trying to return a lost baby star to heaven. Along the way, she meets Moonman, a friend who watches over her and assures her that she is never alone.
The Nana Star characters and stories present positive values such as friendship and kindness in a gentle, imaginative way. I use the word "present" because these are not "beat-you-over-the-head-with-a-teachable-moment" type books. Instead, Nana Star teaches by example in the context of lovely, old-fashioned stories.
The books themselves are beautifully illustrated. They have a vintage look which is perfectly suited to the classic feel of the stories.
I adored these books. I loved the simplicity of the stories and the refreshing sweetness and innocence. I loved that there was an actual story told, rather than some of the nonsense that passes for children's literature these days. And, I loved that there was not a hint of diva attitude to be found.

All Rileyed Up 7/2/08
There is a new being in our house, and she is called Nana Star. Nana Star and Moonman, along with their accompanying storybooks, arrived on our doorstep last week and have been a big deal since. First and foremost, let me say, kudos to books that come with a CD that reads the story aloud and sings a song. Why do I like CDs that read the story aloud? Because I DON'T always enjoy reading a story aloud twelve times an hour. As a bonus, Little No Limit digs the CD. She flips through the pages on her own or just listens to the story while playing with her dolly Nana Star. Other reasons everyone in the house likes these books: They make great bedtime stories. The characters and illustrations are all sweet-natured. The toys are very huggable. So, let's see. Dolls. Stories. Pretty pictures. Read aloud CDs. Charitable publisher. What more do you want? George Clooney?

Our Seven Qtpies 7/1/08
Nana Star is a sweet girl who stars in two books so far, where she learns virtue lessons from other sources, such as Moonman.
Moonman is a great little plush doll that lights up and plays a sweet song that does not get annoying, like so many other toys. Nana Star is a posable plush doll with a couple of accessories, and she faithfully goes with Trinity all over the place. Trinity and Sam love having the characters in the book to cuddle with, and having stories about their toys help give them a character to love even more.
The Nana Star books are lovely stories My kids love to have Grandma read the books. Over and over and over. But the CD's would be great for road trips or for nap times if your child has a CD player in their room.

I think these books are bound to be classics. They are so much fun and so enjoyable to read, especially when you have the accompanying dolls They get a BIG thumbs up from Mom, too. The books are beautifully illustrated, very high quality, the story is wonderful, and the dolls are made of cloth. The stories are really about building character and helping others and valuable for all children. My daughter is absolutely enthralled with the story and, though he won't admit it, my 7-year-old son rather likes it, too. If you have a little girl, this set would make a great gift!

As you all know, I love reviewing kids books and kids toys. With a 4-year- old and a 1-year-old, I have great product testers and I really get to see how products hold up. That being said, we have been playing with the Nana Star books and plushies, and we have a winner at my house.
The Nana Star plushie is a huge hit with both kids. It's cute, easy to carry, and even has bloomers on under the skirt (yes, I checked). Madison immediately made the connection between the doll and the books. She talks about Nana Star quite often now.
If you need a great children's gift, this is the way to go. The books are for 3-7-year-olds and they have such a positive message. I highly recommend these books.
